A disc filter is a set of grooved discs, which are stacked on top of each other and only allow solid particles smaller than the size of the disc groove to pass. These filters have disks with different groove sizes of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 130, 200, 400 microns, which as a result perform the filtration operation up to the above meshes. Depending on the flow rate of the water passing through these filters, the number of disks and the overall dimensions of the filter vary and are available in sizes from 3.4 inches to 6 inches.
These filters are used to remove suspended solids in the water and reduce the amount of TSS in the water.
Disc filters are used for water filtration of cooling towers, pre-treatment desalination plants, ultrafiltration packages, industrial process water filtration and wastewater from wastewater treatment plants.
Disc filters are divided into two main types, manual and self-cleaning. Manual filters do not have automatic backwash and these filters need to be cleaned after working for a while, for which the operator must remove the filter from the circuit and re-enter the service after washing the filter. However, in self-cleaning (automatic) filters, this operation of washing the filter is done by the device itself without the intervention of the operator, and causes the accuracy and convenience of working with this type of filters.
Screen filters consist of a metal or polymer body with a screen cartridge inside as a filtration element. These screens have a mesh of 10 microns to 2000 microns and are available in various meshes. These screens are mostly made of stainless steel.
Tehran AZUD Engineering Company, by transferring the latest innovations and advances related to filtration, has replaced sand filters by increasing the filtration area and has extensive and numerous experiences in this field.
As you all know, sand filters are a technology from over 70 years ago in Europe. This filter creates the following in water distribution network:
1- Generally, sand filters need to remove sand layers from the tank, wash them and re-layer after 6 months of use.
2- In sand filters, after a short time, the sand layers inside the filter will mix and will not have the initial function.
3- Generally, sand filters have a metal body and are the cause of rust and increase of physical mass in water.
4- In order to backwash each sand filter, a large volume of water will lose and in addition, they need a large amount of water per unit of time and high pressure for backwashing.
5- The volume of filters is large and they need a strong and large foundation and They also need a separate room.
6- After sand filters, there is a requirement to use micron filters (screen-disk) because the minimum mesh can be supplied by sand filter is 180 micron, While the standard of micron filters for agricultural irrigation is equal to 130 microns.
Tehran AZUD Engineering Company, by replacing sand filters with automatic screen or disc filters, by increasing the filtration area, reduces water loss and reduces the pressure and water flow rate during backwashing, eliminating the need for heavy foundations and filtration room. In this case, we will have a significant reduction in costs
Due to the presence of aquatic waste in fish ponds that are slimy and sticky, Tehran AZUD Engineering Company recommends the use of disc filters because no mass adheres to the surface of AZUD discs (just different from other brands)
While in screen filters, aquatic waste is trapped in the pores of the screens, part of it is divided into smaller pieces and passes through the filter and enters the network, causes the blockage of drippers. and the other part is stuck on the surface of the screens and does not separate from the surface during the backwashing.
